Over the last few decades, network protocols (e.g., ethernet, ip) have received a great deal of attention. However, few people have studied the code that implements these protocols. A network service allows a system to share data (by using network protocols) with other systems on the network/Internet. This web site is a line-by-line analysis of Philip Homburg's network service for Minix, version 2.0.4. Studying the Minix network service is an opportunity to understand how these different protocols are implemented. This web site took over a year to complete. As with the Minix boot site, if a few people find this site to be useful, our efforts will have been rewarded.
